Newsletter Title

Just the spot to post your suggestions for the crew newsletter. You can choose from the small list that was provided or come up with your own. I think the final vote for the title will happen at the next business meeting on Apr. 11. The previous incarnation of the newsletter was titled The Explorer. But this was before the Venturing program. I'm not sure if the newsletter continued after that change. If you know or even own a copy of previous newsletters, let us know. Please email your name and the Volume/Issue to crew699@gmail.com.

Crew Neckerchief Discussion/Decision making

Yeah yeah, I know we've been talking about this for over a year and nothing has been done but now we are gonna do it right and stick to it!  This Post is for people to discuss all the different variations and options.  But before we get too crazy in designs and colors here's some background.
Sometime between the summer of 06 and the summer of 07, the youth membership decided to change the bylaw.  Back then we decided that we just didn't want to have to wear cow pattern neckerchiefs. So we passed the following amendment:
The crew neckerchief will be of orange colored material with
white piping and the round version of the Camp Pico Blanco
patch design, as adopted in 1966, printed in color on the
back, with "Crew 699" printed below it in green.  The
neckerchief will either be a square measuring one square
yard or a triangle measuring one-half of a square yard.  The
crew neckerchief will be worn with the shirt collar tucked under.

But after having passed this amendment, we learned something about our original neckerchief design.  Article 10 section b. reads identically, except for the color and piping.  In the 1988 bylaws, which is where the neckerchiefs are first mentioned, it describes the crew neckerchiefs as being "light grey" and mentions no piping.  What we learned was that the color was chosen for a reason...  its resemblance to the peak of Mt. Pico.  Especially on the dark green shirt, like the forest!

So the general consensus is that we will have a light grey kerchiefs, but other things have popped up.  And that is what this forum is for.

Option 1: Original or Extra Crewspy?

         Original

     Unofficial Crew "Seal"

Piped edges or not?

                  Piped

             Not Piped

The crew seal option had some popularity at the crew business meeting.
But it was decided that before an amendent proposal was drafted, some discussion should be had.  I'm not sure if this discussion includes adults or is limited to the youth membership... so I will hold off on my opinion until that's cleared up.
